Are you able to update to OSX 10.11.5 or newer? I think that might solve the issue you're seeing.

Thanks, so using that command I see two:

/dev/disk2				/dev/tty.usbmodem1421
/dev/dtrace				/dev/tty.usbmodem1431

You should use a Terminal and run the following command ls /dev/* when the nRF board is connect on you Mac. You should see a usbmodem in that list. If not, this meens the nRF board is not detected.

When you say /dev folder, exactly what folder are you referring to?

could you please attach the log file (from Open log file button), maybe it can shed some light.
Also, could you see in the /dev folder on your mac if there are any devices named tty.usbmodem when the dongle/devkit is attached to usb?

That workaround appears to be for corrupted packets over UART. I checked the J Link version I am running (it is Version 5.12 (2016-03-30)) and through the J Link.exe console entered J-Link>MSDDisable and I got the message Probe configured successfully. back. I even unplugged by nRF52 DK just in case there was some conflict. Still nRF Connect is not allowing me to select a serial port.
