Thanks for the fast reply.

I am making a Xamarin Forms app for Android and iOS. And I only need the DFU part, because I already have a BLE adapter.

Sorry to hear that the source code is't available. I am already working with a nice free BLE library.

The DFU library we made available for the public two years ago was written for the legacy bootloader. As you are using SDK 12 I assume that you are using the new signed DFU from Nordic.

The signed DFU with support for Zip-Files with bin and dat files was added in later versions of the DFU-library. The newer versions of the DFU library‘s are not public up to now. I guess that it would be ok to make the binary version of the DLL available that can be used with our commercial product BLE Library. The source will remain closed as we have seen that the code was taken and modified to be used with free libraries.

What platforms are you triing to run Nordic DFU? Our library can provide a common BLE functionality for iOS,Android und Microsoft Windows with Silicon Labs BLED 112 Dongle.

As I wrote above the DFU implementation depends on the Arendi.BleLibrary. This was important to us to avoid a platform specific implementation for the BLE services. So there is no way to use the DFU library with the nativ Android or iOS Bluetooth objects. The used read/write operations are completly different for Android and iOS and in our implemenation they are handled by the Arendi.BleLibrary.
If you need to use another BLE library you probably need to adapt the Nordic Andoird DFU library or our implemenation (as soon as I've the code for the library ready).

It took some time and I had to do some adaptions but it's working now. I've setup a public Git repository at Bitbucket. The repository includes a Xamarin project for iOS and Android. Feel free to comment and propose changes for upcoming releases.

Nordic DFU with Xamarin (Android & iOS)

This repository shows a demo app of the Nordic DFU implementation on Xamarin.

Git: https://bitbucket.org/arendiag/arendi_nordicdfu.git

Web: https://bitbucket.org/arendiag/arendi_nordicdfu/overview

Components

Arendi.BleLibrary.Service.NordicDFU

This library provides the implementation of the Nordic DFU. It may be used free but no official support is provided.

Arendi.BleLibrary

The library provides Bluetooth Low Energy support for multiple platforms. It handles all the various API's of the different operating
systems and offers a common high level interface for the application.

The BLE library is an official Xamarin component of Arendi AG. The provided version may be used for evaluation, but it has to be licensed for usage in any product.

Without providing a license key the library will block any BLE operation after two minutes.

For more information see: http://ble-library.arendi.ch

Arendi.DotNETLibrary

This library provides a few basic functions for all of our projects.

The DotNETLibrary is a supporting component of Arendi AG. The provided version may be used for evaluation, but it has to be licensed for usage in any product.

Getting started

Prepare your Nordic device

To test the implemention a device with support for the Nordic DFU is required. In the repository a firmware to test the app is included. Attach a
PCA10028 developer board to your system and start the "App/Firmware/SDK11/erase_program_unprotected.bat" batch file. This will programm your developper board with a
HRS application including a softdevice and bootloader.

Check out the GIT repository

Check out a copy of the git repo for the Arendi Nordic DFU app.

Build the app with Visual Studio 2015

Open the solution for iOS or Android with your Visual Studio 2015 incl. Xamarin Support. Rebuild the project an deploy it to your device.

NOTE: Building apps with Xamarin for iOS needs a build server, a apple developer account and development certificates.

Update your Nordic device

After the app started you should press the "select peripheral" button to select the device to update. If the test device is not visible it may
have entered the power off state and a reset is required first. If the device is selected the update can be started by pressing "Start Update".

Who are you talking to?
