In my case I have Keil MDK-Lite 5.14.0.0 and I already installed the nRFgo SDK (and reinstalled it a couple of times) but in Options for target '...' / Device (as shown above), I cannot find Nordic Semiconductor listed! Therefore I cannot do a manual selection as you suggested. Everything else seems to be in place: the pack in Keil_v5 / ARM / Pack and so on. I am trying to run C:\Nordic Semiconductor\nRF51 SDK_v5.2.0.39364\Nordic\nrf51422\Board\nrf6310\blinky_example\arm. The only thing that I find different from a previous working configuration is that 'ARM Cortex-M Profile Device Support Template' pack is missing. But well, I have the same problem described by bynce. I appreciate any advice on this.

RE: MDK 5 can not found nRF device.......

Your issue looks similar to this forum post:

devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../

So re-running the nRF SDK installer will load the Keil packs onto your machine. These packs include all the files and examples you will need.

Please note the pack wants to install to c:/Keil

Recent versions of the Keil tools have their default installation directory as c:/Keil_v5

If you install the packs, you will have these nRF51 device database entries in Keil.

RE: MDK 5 can not found nRF device.......

Hi,

Today I did an update of the SDK from 5.0 to 5.1. After the installation the same problem occurred as described by bynce.
I looked in the Keil folder for the Nodic Software Pack but it was not available. (C:\Keil\ARM\Pack)

I did what Ole Morten suggested, a reinstall of the SDK. Three options are available in the installation of the SDK, change, repair and remove.
I used the option change and double checked if the "nRF Device Family Pack" was selected.
After the installation my problem was solved! In C:\Keil\ARM\Pack the software pack of Nordic Semiconductor was added.

Hope this helps solving the problem.

RE: MDK 5 can not found nRF device.......

Thank you!!!mdkcm500u1.exe Not solve the problem .

RE: MDK 5 can not found nRF device.......

my os:windows 8.1 64bit . MDK4 no problem .but MDK5.0 the way they release the device lib. Can you please try to reinstall and/or repair the installation?

If the SDK has been installed correctly, you should also be able to work around this problem by opening the target options, going on the Device tab, and select the nRF51822_xxAA chip manually, making sure the Generic CPU Data Base is selected.

Edit: I have occasionally seen this error when opening old projects, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I suspect that the problem stems from the fact that the old device database was removed as part of the upgrade to µVision 5, and the project's reference to it is hence not valid any more. However, if you open the project, and then manually select the nRF51822_xxAA in the Generic CPU database (see attached screenshot), you should not see this error when reopening the project later. This should therefore be a usable workaround.
