Is it possible to program the chip using the evaluation kit? I mean.... soldering two wires to the SWD/RST pins of the SEGGER chip?

You can use stlink v2 or clone (available for $7) and openOCD v0.8 to program nrf51822. I programmed it with success. openOCD v0.8 supports nrf51_stlink target :)

openOCD patches supports Jlink target now. Got 22 Kib/s upload speed...

Hi Sébastien,

For ISP (in-system programming) production programming, we recommend using the Segger ARM flasher series (the one you have linked to). There are gang-programmers available from manufacturers like Elnec (beeprog+ series and upwards) and Hi-Lo (A100-series) but these are for socket programming mainly.

The programmer that you linked to, Olimex, seems to use OpenOCD, and I believe the nRF51822 is not supported.
