Can you tell me if it is possible to flash a single nrf51822 ship directly or if it requires at least the minimum oscillator X1 in order to be flashed?
The reason I am asking is that I tried to sold a nrf51 on a home made pcb and currently

RE: nrf51822 oscillator requirement for flashing

It's very hard. I'm using a home made reflow oven and I've got 1 of 3 fully soldered the first time, one of the other two I never got to work and the other one I got working after a lot of messing about with hot air. I actually just ordered a stencil to try and make this a bit easier.

RE: nrf51822 oscillator requirement for flashing

ok I will try that thank you! solder those ships is harder than I though ;)

RE: nrf51822 oscillator requirement for flashing

adding a blank line so that the formatting works ...

It's a good thing that we can test the ship before to solder all the other components ;)

I am using a nrf51-dk via the p20 port to flash the standalone ship, what JLink command you would use in order to test the connexion?
On my side, when I try to upload the .hex file I just receive a FAIL.TXT file saying "Error while connecting to CPU"...

RE: nrf51822 oscillator requirement for flashing

You don't need any crystals at all in order to flash the chip. The internal RC oscillator is sufficient. You actually don't need any crystals at all until you need bluetooth or a couple of other bits of hardware which require the HF clock.

You should try some JLink command line commands to confirm basic ability to connect to the board at all. You probably have a soldering problem.
