So I manage to upload SD+BL+APP in one zip file using nRF connect 4.4.4. SD was same so it is hard to say if it was success but BL and APP were different so I can confirm it is updated.

Sorry I'm stupid somehow in my bootloader target configuration got definition of NRF_DFU_DEBUG_VERSION so it was using debug nordic key and not mine key... Now I can upload application with nRF connect 4.4.4

Hm so I found a phone with 4.4.3 and it also does not work... so I will try some more play with it...

I tried to compile bootloader again and compile zip again and it still tells invalid crc. Is there way to get older nRF connect 4.4.3?

This means that your keys don't match. Generate the bootloader again and sign the firmware with correct private key.

So I did update new version but it works worse than version before - now I'm not able to update even only application. The error is follwing: E 19:47:07.041 [DFU] Remote DFU error: REMOTE DFU INVALID OBJECT.

on google play I see only nRF connect version 4.4.3... I will try wait a bit. I do not know how to force google play to refresh...

I've just released DFU Lib 1.0.4 on GitHub. Also released nRF Toolbox 1.18.4 and nRF Connect 4.4.4 with those fixes. Could you try one of them and confirm the bug is now fixed? They should be available in couple of minutes.

Ok, I found the problem. It is the bug I gave the link to above. In Secure DFU the DFU Library 1.03 (and before) fails to get the ZIP content type: github.com/.../ArchiveInputStream.java The softDeviceSize and bootloaderSize are both 0, as there is no such information in the manifest file (there was in legacy DFU). But applicationSize is >0. So the type returned is APPLICATION, instead of SD+BL+APP. Then, the app sends app.dat, instead of sd_bl.dat as an init packet. But then, when reading the actual content, it reads the sd_bl.bin (which is bigger than the size specified in app.dat). Therefore, after sending 8 parts it fails, it simple does not expect more data. I'll publish the DFU library 1.0.4 soon and all the apps using it soon.

Btw, what error do you get? Was it INVALID OBJECT? Despite that is was trying to send the App, instead of SD+BL.

I am able to reproduce the issue with nRF Connect v4.4.12, i.e. the update stops at around 20% and the phone disconnects from the DFU target.

I am not seeing any issue when I am using nrfutil v1.5.3 to perform the DFU from my PC with a nRF51 Dongle and the connectivity firmware. This indicates that its not a problem with the bootloader, but the nRF Connect app for Android. I will notify our Android Developer and update my answer when I hear back from him.
