&lt;p&gt;This might be an issue caused by timeout because the ARM board is using too long to process.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Timeout on read is an error that has a fix in the branch multi_sd, the fix was verified on OS X so no guarantees for Yocto.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The timeout to reach state ACTIVE for async read is &lt;a href="https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/pc-ble-driver/blob/multi_sd/src/common/transport/h5_transport.cpp#L75"&gt;2 seconds&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As for the documentation the &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v12.0.0/group__ble__sdk__lib__serialization.html"&gt;BLE serialization&lt;/a&gt; section on infocenter should prove helpful.&lt;/p&gt;
