The scanner apps I found most productive are: Nrfnrf connect, blue scanner, blew nearby and ble terminal. They all iPad apps, I don't see any of them in Windows phone apps however.

Which of these scanners are having problem finding the beacon?

My scanners have found stm32 6v1m dongle supposedly running 4.1 beacon app, however fail to find the same app running 4.0 , not nrf51-dk.

I use nrf51 development kit on Windows 7. I have a number of scanner apps on iPad mini and ipad2, including Nordic Connect app, I also tried windows 8 smart phone , Windows 7 desktop and Mac book pro. Both iPads have the best scanning abilities so far.

Is this a USB dongle? If so, what operating system are you using?

Are you able to see the nRF51-DK if you scan for it using a smartphone?

A Bluetooth 4.0 scanner should not have any problem finding your nRF51-DK running Bluetooth 4.1. There are no API commands to run the SoftDevice as only Bleutooth 4.0
