You will have to use some tools to measure the current drawn by the board through the VDD pin, as described in the answer I linked above. There are some more detailed descriptions of how to perform current measurement in the tutorials section.

Is your nRF51822 chip monted on a custom board or are you using any development/evaluation kits from Nordic? Check out this answer about general power measurement.
