Kristin, you need to read up on Monitor Mode Debugging. It is suppose to solve the exact problem you outline in you answer.

The license box never pops up. Therefore I can't choose to run monitor mode in the evaluation mode(ie without license) I got Keil up and running last night and it works fine. I hate Keil for a number of reasons. I can't believe Monior Mode made by Segger won't run on their own IDE.

It shouldn't disconnect when halted in monitor mode. It worked for me in ses 2.20. so, it is because monitor mode is not working for him.

Do you run a BLE example? If so, the BLE link will get disconnected when hitting a breakpoint, because the radio will be halted, and the radio will therefore not be able to transmit the necessary packets to keep the connection. The link will disconnected after a timeout given in the connect request (or a connection parameter update).
