We need a 2.4Ghz smd antenna, not to emit bluetooth but a in-house protocol we are testing.
It will need to fit on a pcb and have good performance, and production ready (low cost enough).
Think smartphone/tablet/thin devices.
Ideally, it may

RE: Simple 2.4Ghz antenna

Yeah.. bug. There is significant design experience, expertise, & effort required to get the PCB design correct - particularly for the RF part.

To be honest, the links I posted aren't the kind of module you'd use in a product - they were just the first hits on google. They are for the prototyping stage. You will still need them (or something similar) for this stage!

For production, you'd be looking at something like this: www.mouser.co.uk/.../

RE: Simple 2.4Ghz antenna

You have SCK, MOSI, MISO pins. So do I on the cortex A9. So, I don't see where the problem is actually. Correct me if I am wrong, but your transceiver already has all the logic put together (i am not buying a single 2.4Ghz SMT/SMD antenna, so I just need to put it according to your recommendations on the PCB and that is it. Isn't it? (because this is what I need at the end of the day: short time to market, but without a module.)

RE: Simple 2.4Ghz antenna

+1 for buying a module.

What confuses me is what you want to connect the SPI interface to.
it can be put on a pcb, has a spi interface (to connect to the cpu via a copper trace) and we can submit it the data to send in the air.

Correct.

Is it what I should buy?

That is an entirely different question!
We do not have enough information to answer that.

However, from your original question, I would surmise that you have little or no experience in this area; so buying a chip is unlikely to be a good choice - you would probably be better to buy a module...

RE: Simple 2.4Ghz antenna

I think

It should be connectable to an ARM Cortex-A9 cpu via spi or uart

That makes no sense whatsoever!

An antenna simply couples an existing, modulated radio signal from the PCB (or cable) to the surrounding environment - SPI, UART, etc are not radio signals!!

It sounds like what you are looking for is not just an antenna, but also a radio transmitter...?

What is the best product in the NS range

NS is not an antenna manufacturer - so there aren't any!
They do, however, make some radio transceiver chips - which is, perhaps, what you're really looking for?
