There is the ble_app_uart example in the SDK12 that uses custom service.

Thank you for your reply. I would like to run the custom service sample application i.e. nrf52-ble-app-lbs which can be found in the following link: github.com/.../nRF52-ble-app-lbs

This app was tested on the nrf52 SDK 0.9.2 and I would like to follow the same setup. Unless, is there a version of this app that has been ported to NRF5x SDK v12.x.x?

At the same time, I would also like to run the throughput test on the nrf52. I am thinking of running the nrf51-ble-app-lbs throughput test example Is there any equivalent app for this on the nrf52?

You should you SDK12 here. The 0.9 is only for engineering trial and no longer avail.

Why would you want to use this old SDK? Why not use the latest? It can be found here.
