If you want to perform OTA updates over BLE Mesh then yes this possible, please see the DFU example documentation in our nRF5 SDK for Mesh.

Hello Nihar_96, nRF team,

Were you able to perform an OTA update on nRF52840? I have a setup like a border router(NCP connected), other two nRF52840 DK, and I want to upgrade nRF52840s over BLE or over the mesh.

Is it possible?

shah_shah: Its only the Secure Bootloader that supports Bluetooth OTA, the Open Bootloader only supports the USB transport layer. I recommend that you follow the Testing section on how to use the example.

The Secure bootloader example only has a main.c file in the project folder, but it uses other source files from the SDK, i.e. SDK-folder\components\libraries\bootloader.

Thanks very much for your reply. Could you please correct me if I understood wrong. To get OTA update for Application functional on nRF52840DK, the nRF5_SDK_15.3.0_59ac345\examples\dfu\open_bootloader example is a starting point. Am I right? The example consits of only main.c file, and updates images based on Bootloader and DFU modules?

@JG: There is no support for the nRF52840 in nRFGo Studio. You have to use nrfjprog, which is a part of the nRF5x Command Line Tools, see this link.

I couldn't program the bootloader code to nRF52840DK use nRFgo, it always said: "Verification failed". did you saw this problem before?

You can find the bootloader example for the nRF52840 DK(PCA10056) in the examples\dfu\bootloader_secure\pca10056 in the SDK v13.0.0 Alpha release.
