the file manager is "Explorer" (play.google.com/.../details it simply doens't return the filename of the selected file. I really don't now why...

I've seen the same behavior recently. Can you tell what file manager is known to cause the problem and which work as expected? Question: Why has the file manager an impact on this?

Issue caused by the file manager, that is used to select the zip file installed on the phone. Installing a different file manager resolves the issue and DFU can be performed.

Is there any additional information in the log in the nRF Connect app? Is it one of the test images included in the SDK or is it one you have created? How did you transfer the zip file to your phone?
