Unfortunately got the same problem with v3.12. There is also documented variance in success in different versions of Ubuntu: forum.segger.com/index.php Can't tell what the common denominator is for making it work.

Hi Erlend, Glad you found a workaround for now. I tried the latest installer, v3.12, and that seems to run fine on my installation. Could you try this one and see if that works at your end?

Temporary solution: I had an old VM, with an old version of Linux (although 32-bit). I could install (read: extract) the files in there and copy it out and to my laptop. Seems like all their installers break with a newer version of Linux (or some other package).

I tried 310 e, g, h and i for 64-bit and e and i for 32-bit - all with the exact same behaviour. Is it different for you?

I tried to install the same version as you, and I see similar behavior. For me it is only one window, all grey, with "SEGGER Embedded Studio 3.10i Setup" as the window name. Looks to be an issue with the installer itself. I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 x64. Have you tried one of the older versions as a workaround for now? www.segger.com/.../embeddedstudio -> click "older version"

There is no output normally. If I run it with ´strace ´, this is the last few lines bpaste.net/.../b93cec1c1ed9

Is there any output in the terminal if you launch it from there? strace ("strace " or piggyback on the pid ("strace -p ") could also be useful.
