I am facing some problem with openocd and stlink connection.
I saw some dve. boards having USB<->serial converter on board for programming (i guess).
So, i got following board.

RE: can i program nrf51822 bt module using uart

Unless you have a suitable Bootloader installed - which would require an SWD programmer to get it in...

RE: can i program nrf51822 bt module using uart

If you have a compatible STLink, it can be upgraded to JLink using an updater supplied by Segger.

You could also buy a Segger "JLink" (and JLink Edu)

Or one of many other different SWD programmers (check which are supported by OpenOCD)

Just search on eBay or AliExpress for "SWD Programmer" there are loads of them for under $10

Edit.

Just as a matter of interest, I just bought 2 different kinds of SWD programmer from eBay, one is a large STLink V2 which I hope is updatable to JLink using Seggers updater.
The other is some sort of generic SWD programmer which appears to have an STM32 chip on it. (though precisely what that is, I won't know until it arrives)

(I already have 2 Nordic DKs and also several other SWD programmers, I'm just buying these to see what else is out in the market)

RE: can i program nrf51822 bt module using uart

If you don't have the experience to get ocd working then get a JLink programmer which is designed to work out of the box and supported by Nordic and the recommended tools.

RE: can i program nrf51822 bt module using uart

you can use the IDAP-Link to program it.
With IDAP-Link, you don't even need openocd to flash it. The provided IDAPnRFProg commandline tool can flash both softdevice and you firmware at the same time, and dfu too out of the box.

RE: can i program nrf51822 bt module using uart

i tried swd interface.
