Turned out to be a faulty USB cable. It only supplied power but not communication. Swapped it out and immediately the board was recognized.

Hi,

Just to rule out any hardware issues: Could you please check if there's a short between VCC_NRF and GND? This can be done by ohming on one of the GPIO headers. VCC and GND should be clearly marked on the PCB (if revision 2.0.0 or newer)

I also tried it with another PCA10001 kit and the computer didn't find that one either, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem.

Same issue here. I've tried it with two different computers and gotten the same result.

I don't see anything in device manager. As far as I can tell Windows never tries searching for drivers.

Hi Marvin,

The PCA10001 board will blink continuously (LED marked "LD3") when it's trying to enumerate/establish the USB connection. As it's detected in linux, this means that the physical soldering/connector is working properly.

Are you sure it's not windows that is trying to search online for the driver? This may take quite some time before it's recognized. You should be able to see this under "Device manager" if this is the case.
