&lt;p&gt;If the batter has a nominal voltage below 3.6V then you can use the ADC measure the battery voltage directly, see &lt;a href="https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/nrf51-ADC-examples/"&gt;this&lt;/a&gt; github repo for ADC examples for the nRF51 series.&lt;/p&gt;
