I had plugged it to the nRF USB, works now that I plugged it into the USB for interface MCU :). Come to think of it that is quite obvious as the picture even shows it in the guide.

Well then it looks like faulty cable or some other USB problem. Is the yellow/green LED shining on the board when you plug USB cable? Just a sanity check: do you plug the cable to "USB for interface MCU" not "nRF USB"?

No, it does not appear. I have looked at the devices in the device manager and tried connecting and disconnecting the board but I can see no change there.

Does USB device appears in Windows Device manager? Can you identify the right one and make sure that it gets installed with SEGGER J-Link composite device driver?
