Yes, you should use the "experimental_bootloader_secure_serial" project. You will have to fetch the micro-ecc library, as described here, in order to compile the project. After compiling the project you can flash it your nRF52 DK along with the SoftDevice and you should be able to perform a secure serial dfu using one of the test images, this is explained here.

Ok, I didn't know this. I've downloaded the nRF5_SDK_13.0.0. Is it advised to use the "experimental_bootloader_secure_serial"? If yes, how should I proceed?

The Secure Serial bootloader was first added in SDK v13.0.0, there is no serial bootloader in SDK v12.2.x.

Ok. I guess I am the using the default bootloader within the nRF5_SDK_v12.2.0 file. What I did was:

Flash the soft device found at "C:\Nordic Semiconductor\nRF5_SDK_v12.2.0\components\softdevice\s132\hex" to the PCA10040. I guess the softdevice already has its bootloader?
Using the nrfutil and the cmd prompt, I sent the command "nrfutil dfu serial -pkg dfu_test_bootloader_s132.zip -p COM18".

Unfortunately, it stucks at 0%.

Currently, there is no option to set the baudrate in pc-nrfutil, it defaults to 115200. Are you using the debug version of the bootloader?

I added the path and I have finally installed nrfutil which I copied (nrfutil.exe) in the folder "C:\Nordic Semiconductor\nRF5_SDK_v12.2.0\examples\dfu\ble_dfu_send_hex\test_images_update_nrf52". In the same folder, I opened the cmd prompt and with the command "nrfutil dfu serial -pkg dfu_test_bootloader_s132.zip -p COM18 -b115200" I obtained the following error: "Error: no such option: -b" for the baud rate. How can this issue be fixed? If I remove the '-b 115200", the cmd prompt gets stuck at this stage : C:\Nordic Semiconductor\nRF5_SDK_v12.2.0\examples\dfu\ble_dfu_send_hex\test_images_update_nrf52>nrfutil dfu serial -pkg dfu_test_bootloader_s132.zip -p COM18 [------------------------------------] 0%

Hi Fabien,

I am afraid that pc-nrfutil is the only way to perform a secure serial DFU at the moment. Its not possible to use nRFGo Studio to perform serial DFU with the secure serial bootloader from SDK v13.0.0, as nRFGo Studio only supports legacy serial DFU( SDK v11.0.0 and older).

As for your python issue, have you added the location python.exe( usually C:\Python27) to your path?
