Even it&#39;s written for the nrf51 DK, the information given also applies to the nrf52 DK. If you power your nrf51 module by an external power source, then you have to connect VDD to the external power supply. But be aware that the voltage is equal or below 3.3V. Otherwise you can use VDD on Pin 1 as power source for the external device. Either way is needed by the nrf52 DK board to recognise that an external nrf is about to be programmed.
