@Bndit, This is a forum where people are very helpful and open minded. Sensing the tone of this conversation, I see that you have been very rude to others who are trying to help you. If you continue this attitude, i unfortunately have to blacklist you. Please be polite to people trying to help you.

If you have suggestions on improving the user experience, then let us know about them instead of saying "why is it this way?". You can rather say, "it would be better to do it this way".

I've followed the tutorial that @Daniel Wang suggested and still had some problems with recognizing NRF variable and libraries.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I guess the only thing left for me and few other people who like nRF5 platform is to pray for Nordic that they don't go bankrupt once you decide not to place your 10k order (wasn't it 5k like two hours ago?)

Ok i already got it you are not from Nordic. I asked a simple clear question, how the hell you write a single line of code and flash it ? If I am going to pay them to buy 10k units one day, I would expect them to make a free IDE for me, so they can make sure it happen with them and not with STM.

Not sure if "you" means me or Nordic Semi in your posts but that doesn't matter much. I'm afraid there is a misconception about this forum: it's bunch of people (from which couple are Nordic employees, you can identify them by blue rectangle around the icon and comment in their profile) who can help you if you have specific problem. We cannot change the world. We cannot develop free gorgeous IDE and SDK and libs for you on a spot. If you want to give feedback to Nordic it's much easier to contact them directly through My Page or their sales guys. I'm sure that if they hear similar feedback from important customers and they can improve it they will. But that's nothing we can help you with here and now.

@endWhatever What a stupid comment. You already made the hard work, an unbelievable chip, the only thing left is to make a window, with a button, then I type "setBleName:me" and it changes the name! I say "out1=FF", and bom its high! what a miracle? I flash it from my mac! Oh I see, this does not looks sophisticated and hard, so it means its not that powerful right? again, this is why 1 billion people buy iPhones, which has a smaller processor, and is the opposite of you.

Well normally we do hire other people to do the job we don't like... I hope no one will force you to do that ugly coding and that one day you will wake up to the world where RF design and embedded development is as easy as you imagine and everything just "happens" without effort. Until then I recommend to go back to my first recommendation.

Developing IDEs is not free, so for some IDEs you have to pay. But as endnode pointed out, GCC with Eclipse IDE is actually free ! Nordic even provide you with a well written guide on how to get started with GCC and Eclipse here: devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../

If you have any problem with the guide or anything else, create a new qeustion on this site, and Nordic or someone else will actually help you out.

and the whole point is to not use an arduino I know how bad it is it's like 20 times slower than running a regular program.

Why do i have to pay only to write my f*"*ing code !!! :) Yes I paid a lot for my mac, but I got Xcode for free which is the most user friendly environment you can imagine. I pay for a pcb, for 5k nrfs chips and for development time, now I have to pay to write my code? something is really really wrong in the hardware dev world.

If you don't want to pay for IDE (which I can understand taking how much you already paid for your computer;))) then go with Eclipse and GCC tool chain. And GCC even doesn't need installation which you hate so much, just download the right version, unzip and set-up Make to run the compilation/linker.

I am not using iOS, I guess you mean OS X, or mac OS (an operating system for humans, not aliens) . So now you say I also have to pay for Segger only to blink a led. I think I am out. Such a stupidity, seriously, to develop an F16 and not to develop a pilot.

Todays computers and MCUs are so powerful the only limitation is your imagination in modern coding you don't even have to care about how many variables you have and how you name as you simply have too much storage and processing power that's why the programming languages other than assembly were invented. To get beyond that boundary of complicated coding yes it's less efficient than direct machine code but practically you can do more since this is closer to how you perceive the world. Now the same applys to this case.

Well, your question does not say that you are using OS X. So if you are using OS X I would recommend Segger embedded studio, there is a tutorial on how to set-up the projects here.

Regarding Keil, you run the Keil installer and download the SDK (.zip archeive) and you are up and running. I have never had to install a "bunch of crap".

Well, you first need an IDE, these are by default supported by the SDK. Using Keil you can flash the application by simply pressing the F8-key or the "Load" button, super-easy!:

If you are using e.g. GCC, you can also flash using nrfjprog

By the way you can put Arduino on the chip, but in mass production you will need a bootloader and a complicated process. God. Engineers just dont get this, it driven me crazy.

Isn't that amazing? I was thinking that Nordic as a European company will have some degree of UX. Want simplicity? you do not deserve to use powerful tools, go use Arduino, its for dumb people. You have to be dirty and scrappy if you want this privilege. A simple window with a flashing button. Whats so hard???

Yeah having the same problem and I kinda regret moving to the Nordic semiconductors platform because of that some better video tutorial should be presented in youtube,

for example I followed this guide devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../ for using eclipse since I realy liked to code there when I was at the FRC robotics program and nothing still the program fails to recognize all the nrf related stuff when building and I cant find alot on how to fix it.

So I went ahead trying this tutorial on the Segger IDE and still the same problem didn't even get to the part when I try to flash the chip with my ST link.
