The difference is the format of the data. Is there a specific beacon format you want to advertise? You can take a look at the function &lt;code&gt;advertising_init()&lt;/code&gt; in the &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v13.0.0/ble_sdk_app_beacon.html?cp=4_0_0_4_1_2_2"&gt;BLE beacon example&lt;/a&gt; in the SDK, to see how this initialize the advertising data.&lt;/p&gt;
