 Can an attribute cause the BLE to set a bit in Flash, so at the next power up, it will read that bit and know to execute the boot loader for DFU?

&lt;p&gt;Yes, you can use &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v13.0.0/ble_sdk_app_buttonless_dfu.html?cp=4_0_0_4_1_2_23"&gt;Buttonless DFU&lt;/a&gt;. You can find the Buttonless DFU example in the folder&lt;/p&gt;
