I use gnu gcc. The example runs and when I type q or Q the code goes to the printf(" \r\nExit!\r\n") as designed.
The problem is that I did not find a way to see that output on my terminal

RE: UART printf

ok there is a problem with the flow control. I have changed the structure:
APP_UART_FLOW_CONTROL_ENABLED to APP_UART_FLOW_CONTROL_DISABLED,
now I can see everything on screen.

RE: UART printf

I do not have a logic Analyzer

RE: UART printf

Ok, I did some additional test and I confirm I can receive correctly but I am not able to transmit. I am using a PCA10040. I have a CP2102. On the PCA10040 I have connected RXD (p0.08) to TXD (CP2102), TDX (p0.06) to RXD(CP2102) and RTS (p0.05) to CTS(CP2102).

I have also installed another program iUARTAssistant...and I have the same results.

RE: UART printf

It seems that you only have RX on the device and no TX. Which hardware board are you using ?
Have you made sure you connected all the UART pins properly ?

Can you capture a logic analyzer trace on the UART pins ? And maybe a photo of your setup
