The proximity example will only sende battery data when connected and notifications are enabled for the battery service.

If you add it to the advertising packet, all scanning devices should be able to receive it without connecting.

Are you sure that the battery level is added to the adertising packet?..If it is added to advertising packet then it should be avaialble to all the phones which can see the device , right?

Depends entirely on the beacon type. There is no field in the advertising packet reserved for battery level. Neither is there any field for this in the advertising data. You will have to add this as a BLE_GAP_AD_TYPE_MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC_DATA. The update of the value itself is similar to the proximity example, just update the advertising data with the new battery level.

How to exactly add battery level to advertising data? I see that saadc_event_handler only updates the value on connection.

Please suggest a solution.

Hi,

This blog post show how to do battery measurement on the nRF52.

I'm not aware of any examples showing advertising of battery level, but the proximity example shows how to measure battery voltage and how to add this to the BLE battery service. You can change this example to add the battery level to the advertising data instead, and update the advertising data on each SAADC callback.
