&lt;p&gt;The ble_app_uart example sets both the advertisment data and the scan response data in advertising_init(), so the behavior you&amp;#39;re seeing in the first picture is the nRF52840 sending advertisment packets on all 3 adv. channels followed by a scan response to the central.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The spikes you see in the second picture is most likely a couple of interrupts being handled by the CPU.&lt;/p&gt;
