Now it is clearer: BLE5 introduces new Extended Advertising PDUs. Whether using legacy advertising PDUs or the new extended advertising PDUs, these events begin on the primary channel. For further information, see: blog.bluetooth.com/exploring-bluetooth5-whats-new-in-advertising.

Mr Nordic: any plan to manage these new PDUs in the next version of S132/S140?

This information lacks confirmation, but from I have read, advertising packets will still be send on the regular 3 channels, but will contain pointers to what data channels have the remaining information. So maybe instead of allowing more channels in that parameter, a new parameter could be added to specify the data channel.

This entire feature (extended adv. data according to BT5) is not supported by Nordic stacks yet so let's wait for the release. Btw. as I understand the feature it doesn't mean you can randomly advertise on any channel now, it's more like you sending short ADV message on one of adv. channels 37/38/39 and there you indicate on which of remaining data channel it will continue with longer payload. So old devices get at least the short message as of today.
