Which SDK version you are using ? I believe it's fixed in the current SDK and you don't need that workaround.

One thing you can do to have the merged hex, is to do normal OTA, and then read the hex out from that chip to get the merged .hex.

Hi Hung,

I refer to the link devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../ to comment out some code according to the EDIT 28.10.16, because the bootloader couldn't merge the application into one file. If I don't comment out the code, OTA is OK. Thanks.

Hi Alice,

When testing here I can see that the bootloader crashed when connected to the phone after switching from application to bootloader.

Have you modified the bootloader ?Have you tried to test with just the bootloader (no application ) ?

Please try to test with the bootloader example with no modification (except for the key) and no application, flash softdevice and bootloader and then try to update the application.

Hi Hung,

I have test the DFU for nRFToolbox app on IOS.Use nRF Connect app to Write 0x01 to the DFU characterstis then the device would switch bootloader mode and advertise as DfuTarg. nRFToolbox app on IOS could connect to it and then finish OTA successfully. However, nRFToolbox app on Android couldn't connect to it even though the device advertise as DfuTarg. App indicates uploading all the time and then fail. I meet the same issue when I test the experimental_ble_app_buttonless_dfu example in SDK. I have upload the attachment I use.

I don't think it's the issue with the nRFToolbox app. The app should work doesn't matter if it's Bluetooth 5 or not. It works on my Galaxy S8 which supports Bluetooth5.0

It could be something else, please enable logging (RTT log) on the NRF52 and send the log to me. Also please find the log on Android when doing DFU.

The phone is nubia Z17, what a pity, we donn't have such a sniffer . Does the nRF Toolbox support bluetooth 5?

@Alice: Could you state which phone you used to test ?
Could you find the log when doing DFU ? A sniffer trace would be useful, but you need a sniffer that support Bluetooth 5.0
