When you call sd_ble_gatts_rw_authorize_reply() are you replying with the data you want the attribute to be set to? You should set update to 1, and supply a pointer to the data you want to update the attribute with.

SDK 13.0.0, s132 v4.0.2, Using LightBlue on an iPhone, Read operation produces a "No Value" response. nRF Connect shows a value of 0x.

Which version of the SoftDevice and SDK are you using? What do you mean by cannot be read? Do you get an error when you try to read or you don't get the expected value (the one you have written)?
