With the unmodified example the ble just doesn't work. I have to change the clock source to make it work. I tried with the RC oscilator, but it only works with the synthesized clock.

No, it's not right. If you read the case you pointed to you can find this line:

In general, there should never be a reason to use this clock source (NRF_CLOCK_LFCLKSRC_SYNTH_250_PPM), and you should always be able to use the RC oscilator instead of the synthesized clock.

I don't know why there is a passkey here. Usually with the mouse there should be no passkey. Please try to test with unmodified code of the mouse example.

We use Justwork to pair.

I have made it. It turned out that I had to configure the clock source. By default it is NRF_CLOCK_LFCLKSRC_XTAL_20_PPM, but it should be changed to NRF_CLOCK_LFCLKSRC_SYNTH_250_PPM.

The example is working, in debug mode I can see that it handles events from pressing the buttons.

However, I have another issue - When I click on 'Pair' in Windows 10 bluetooth menu it says "That passcode isn't right. Try adding your mouse again."

Is it a Windows 10's fault or I should modify something on the example?

I have the PCA10031 dongle. I flashed the s130 SoftDevice after checking the compatibility.

I tried with other ble examples but stil nothing happens. What other thing I should do?

If your PC is running Windows 7 or below, you will not be able to connect to bluetooth low energy devices at all. Which OS do you run?

No, it can acts as anything, it's the same chip on the DK and on the dongle.

Have you tried to test any other example ? Have you flashed a softdevice ?

Which dongle do you have ? note that if it's too old it won't be able to run latest Softdevice. Please check for the compatibility table here.

I just want to test it and I have only the dongle for the moment. I have soldered external buttons and they are working properly. The problem is with connecting the dongle to the PC via ble. I run the exapmle and nothing happens, the dongle doesn't appear when I search it from my PC or my phone via nRF Connect App.

I'm afraid that the dongle can only act like a Central device and not as Peripheral one.

I don't see much point of using the NRF51 Dongle as a BLE mouse as you need to connect it to USB port.

If you just want to test, I don't see any problem connect it to PC via BLE. Simply run the example in the SDK should work.

The Dongle doesn't have a button, but there are some output pins 15-20 that you can use , you need to solder external buttons to them.

Still, it's much easier to test using a nRF5 DK instead of the dongle
