Is there any possibility to obtain source code of that minimal central role functionality? Sometimes is good enough in some cases.

The USB stick can act as a full Central device or as a sniffer depending on the software running on it.

I met with my account team last week, and they couldn't/wouldn't give an exact date for S120.

We ended up going in a different direction and using a Linux-based system instead. So we're less concerned over the S120 now.

For a true, Bluetooth specification compliant Central role you will need the S120 Soft Device -- which is not available yet.

As others have pointed out, the PCA10000 does not implement a true Central role. It merely implements enough function to do some basic testing so that you're not rummaging around in the dark with your own Central-side code.

The S110 SoftDevice is not supporting the Central role and cannot do any scanning. This is only a firmware limitation however.

The Master Emulator Firmware is not using the SoftDevice, but implements minimal central role functionality for use with the Master Control Panel.

I don't think so. In USB stick you cannot see raw packets, but you can scan and initiate connections (through Master Control Panel) - so it must work in GAP central role.

I think you need to run the S120 stack on your nRF51822 to have central role functionality. The USB stick isn´t a central role device - it just can be used as a kind of sniffer.

(I hope that the Nordic engineers will correct me if I´m wrong)
