Finally solved this... Was using the wrong COM port with the hci_dfu_send_hex.exe tool! :)

As a suggestion for the next version of this tool; it seems that success is reported even if: A) No bootloader is even present on the device B) The wrong COM port is used

Ah, yes - we are talking about different transports ;)

I am attempting to flash the device via the USB to UART bridge (through the Segger chip).

Maybe you need to update your master control panel. I am using a device marked as PCA10000 as the dongle. We may be talking about different transports as I use the over-the-air firmware update only.

Thanks for the reply syntroniks! I do have the nRF Master Control Panel - are you referring to <File> <Flash Programming> ? I'm under the impression that this actually uses the on-board JLink chip to flash the device (not the bootloader).

Nope, there is a protected download called "nRF-MCP-x64" in my "My Downloads" page. It should be available if you have purchased the eval or development kits. Nordic employees can correct me if I am wrong.

Do you mean nRFgo Studio? I tried using that with no success.

If you can, try giving the master control panel a go. I was able to do successful DFU from that application.
