Hi Vincent, it could be because the device is already registered on the whitelist while you did the other sample testing. You have to delete the device from the whitelist for different services.

Actually it's the same question to current topic. Ignoring the Nordic BLE device from the device list in iOS system setting can make the BLE connectable again (no matter using Light Blue or nRFConnect). It's described the same to ldmxhj above. @Hung Bui, I just don't understand why the BLE device would appear in the system Bluetooth list.

Ignore the device listed in system Bluetooth list is working. But I still don't know the reason. Is that because we debugged bonding function on this board before?

Thank Hung, I think I have find the solution. In the IOS setting, I can see "Nordic_Prox" is listed in "my devices". Click it and select "ignore this device". Then it will work with the nRF apps!

Hi Hung, Thanks for your help. I think you are right - maybe something to do with the whitelist. I load the same Softdevice and program to the second PCA10040 board, it works flawlessly. One difference I noticed is that on the IOS, it shows Nordic_UART as peripherals name but shows Nordic_Prox for the not-working one. So if it is something to do with cached ATT table, is there a way to clear it on the phone?

Hi ldmxhj,

Please try to test again with nRF Connect app. I experienced issue with the LightBlue app.

Also, if you can capture a sniffer trace it would be easier to understand what happened.

It could be a whitelist on the device that doesn't allow the phone to connect. You should try to do an Erase all before testing.

It could be the cached ATT table that causing the phone not detecting the new attributable. You should try to change the address of the device or test with PC or other phone.

Regarding to your beacon solution, the timeout calculation is done at the peripheral side? If it stops the advertisement, I guess you will somehow need to wake it up (maybe by a button pressing?)

Taking nRF Toolbox UART as an example. I could see and click to connect the BLE device. On the log it says:" Connecting to: Nordic_UART... centralManager.connect(peripheral,options:nil). The LED on the PCA1004 stays on then stop responding. If I try to send anything from the APP, the log says: "UART RX Characteristic not found". If I use the LightBlue, I couldn't complete the connection process. I got "connection Alert, Timeout interrogating the peripheral" on the log.

I have used SDK 10 and SDK 11 with iOS, but I can't recall if I used the UART example.

Actually...

What precisely is the problem... What do you mean by

"we are not able to make the connection (timeout) from the Iphone."

I was looking at this in SDK 12.3 yesterday and there is no timeout on the connection, at least from the BLE device standpoint.

However I added a timeout to my version of the UART example (which I'm using as a template for a 128 bit service), so that if no transmissions are received within a defined time period e.g. 1 minute.

My version automatically disconnects.

I do this because, otherwise my battery powered SmartBeacons could go flat if someone used LightBlue etc to connect to them, and didnt send any data.

The iphone 6 is currently with 10.3.3, and the iphone 6s is with 10.3.2. We haven't tried the SDK 12 yet, so you think only sdk 12 works with ios?

Which version of iOS are you using.

LightBlue and nRFConnect both work fine for me on iOS10.3.3 on an iPad connecting to the UART example built using SDK 12.3.0
