 nRF24L01 seems like a perfect choice for home automation project that I have in mind .. I will have to install about 20 of those around the house. 
 My question is - do they transmit anything when there is no data to be transmitted ? &lt;p&gt;Figure 11, page 37 of the nRF24L01P &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/pdf/nRF24L01P_PS_v1.0.pdf"&gt;product specification&lt;/a&gt; shows receiver operation. Either as long as it receives no valid data packets, No_ACK is set, and it has no response payload, the chip will only passively listen, and not transmit anything.&lt;/p&gt;
