&lt;p&gt;The external 32 kHz is optional, and when used it claims gpios P0.27 and P0.26.
If you are not using the external 32 kHz, you can leave these pins unconnected, or use them as a normal GPIO.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The BLE stack needs a 32 kHz source, but it can be sourced from either internal RC/synthesized from 16M clock/external 32 kHz.&lt;/p&gt;
