Can you try to read out the PCA10040's serial number with the command 'nrfjprog -i'?

Can you also upload nRF Connect's log file? You can get the file by clicking on the the "Open log file"-icon to the right in the Log window.

What kind of OS do you use? Does it show up as a COM port too?

Yes. I can actually flash it using "make flash"... It also shows up as a flash drive on my computer.
