&lt;li&gt;Do you transfer a lot of data? That would explain ~5mA during connection. The radio and occasional CPU activity will drive the current up, but assuming the CPU is sleeping in between BLE event the average current is not as high as if the CPU was on continuously.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52832.ps.v1.1/cpu.html?cp=2_1_0_6_1_0#unique_285360707"&gt;10mA might sound like the CPU is running continuously&lt;/a&gt; and that you don&amp;#39;t use the DCDC converter. Is that correct?&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Have you debugged your code to see what, if anything, your application is doing after a disconnect?
Maybe it is stuck in an error handler, or waiting for some sort of event for a peripherals?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;What, if any, peripherals do you use? UART, ADC, etc.?&lt;/li&gt;
