@mitch966: I am afraid that I do not know when a new version of the nRF5 SDK for Bluetooth Mesh is going to be released. All information regarding roadmaps and release schedules goes through our sales organization so if your local RSM cannot give you a date then its likely because this date has not been fixed yet.

If you are not in the position to disclose that information, please either PM or post the email for the individuals who can of the Nordic headquarter in Norway. My previous contact with our regional sales office yields nothing beyond formulated response.

You are right the precompiled hex files are device-specific, i.e. you won't be able to use any of the precompiled bootloader images on the nRF52840. The nRF5 SDK for Bluetooth Mesh does not have any support any support for the nRF52840 yet, so compiling it yourself would require changes to the CMake and Ninja build system of the release, which I have not attempted.
