I want to know the methods to analyze Bluetooth 5 protocol, such that these packets sniffer tools: BLE USB Dongle from TI or nRF52832 DK.
Which one is better or more proper ?
I've searched the forums, but I still don't quite understand

RE: How to analyze Bluetooth 5 by packets sniffer ?

Please ask your questions in a new case. thanks.

RE: How to analyze Bluetooth 5 by packets sniffer ?

Hi, i followed the instructions on https://www.nordicsemi.com/?sc_itemid=%7B655FA723-4404-4FBE-8062-7C5C5DCDF36E%7D and flashed the sniffer firmware on a nRF52840 DK (pc10056). After that, I can scan ble 4 packets w/o issues. But I am unable to scan ble 5.

Things I did:

1. I flashed a different nRF52840 DK board with "examples/ble_peripheral/ble_app_rscs"

2. I can see the full device name in nRF Connect app on Android phone, but not in iPhone --- maybe not supported?

#define DEVICE_NAME "nRF Running Speed and Cadence Sensor Example Application" /**< Name of device. Will be included in the advertising data. */

3. I tried to scan the "ble_app_rscs" example with the sniffer (nRF52840), unable to see it at all.

RE: How to analyze Bluetooth 5 by packets sniffer ?

Great! You should able to capture the ADV_NON_CONN_IND packets and get the mesh packets in the 1.0.1 version of the sniffer. There is work needed on a Wireshark dissector for Mesh.

RE: How to analyze Bluetooth 5 by packets sniffer ?

I am aware about mesh feature.
