Hi, i followed the instructions on https://www.nordicsemi.com/?sc_itemid=%7B655FA723-4404-4FBE-8062-7C5C5DCDF36E%7D and flashed the sniffer firmware on a nRF52840 DK (pc10056). After that, I can scan ble 4 packets w/o issues. But I am unable to scan ble 5.

Things I did:

1. I flashed a different nRF52840 DK board with "examples/ble_peripheral/ble_app_rscs"

2. I can see the full device name in nRF Connect app on Android phone, but not in iPhone --- maybe not supported?

3. I tried to scan the "ble_app_rscs" example with the sniffer (nRF52840), unable to see it at all.

Mesh is a 4.0 and above feature and not a Bluetooth 5 feature. You should able to capture the ADV_NON_CONN_IND packets and get the mesh packets in the 1.0.1 version of the sniffer. There is work needed on a Wireshark dissector for Mesh.

I am aware about mesh feature. How is going about nRF Sniffer updating? Is there any time line ?

We do plan to add BT 5 support to the nRF Sniffer running on the nRF52-DK. What specific features of BT 5 are you looking at ?

No, that's not what I said. There is no CHEAP tool to analyze BT5 on-air packets today (or I'm not aware about any). Surely there are professional tools (like these from Ellisys) but then we are speaking about 10-30k USD price range.

There is no such cheap BLE sniffer which can analyze new BT5 features as far as I know. If your device defaults to standard BT4.0-4.2 data rates and PDUs then normal TI or Nordic sniffer on their Dev Kits does the job, it's just your personal preference which GUI you like more...
