I talked to a colleague at Nordic, and he noticed that you did not receive the prompt "J-Link>" after the line "Cortex-M4 identified." If this is the case, it makes sense that you cannot connect via the JLinkRTTClient. Also, it could be that something on your network is blocking the RTT client. This is because the JLinkRTTClient connects to JLinkEXE via the network (through the loopback address). Hope that helps a bit!

Could be useful to take a look at this case first. This forum post might also be helpful. I tried to install this using ubuntu 16.04 64 bit on a virtual machine now. It seems there is some issue with my usb connection. This is a well known problem that I have experienced multiple times unfortunately.

Which parameters did you input after executing JLinkExe? Are you using an nrf52 dk or an external J-Link as programmer? Also, which nrf are you using (e.g. 51822, 52832, 52840)?
