I had the same problem. I fixed it on the "Makefile.posix" in my mac by doing as below:

GNU_INSTALL_ROOT ?= /Users/SivaK/src_prj/BLE/nRF5_SDK_15.3.0/gcc-arm-none-eabi-5_4-2016q3/bin/
GNU_VERSION ?= 15.3.0
GNU_PREFIX ?= arm-none-eabi

Please note that "/" and the end of the first line was necessary.

Many thx @Stian That works fine. I'm left wondering if there are other issues in migration to SDK14 but this is good for now.

But you said that "/usr/local/gcc-arm-none-eabi-5_3-2016q1/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc is in place" so that means you have to add bin to the Makefile.posix.

Makefile.posix is not supposed to be the same in SDK12 and SDK14.

GNU_INSTALL_ROOT := /usr/local/gcc-arm-none-eabi-5_3-2016q1/bin/

Is it a missing $GNU_INSTALL_ROOT:/bin? Ie: '/usr/local/gcc-arm-none-eabi-5_3-2016q1/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc'?
