Hi,
I am new in this field and i am trying to do current measurement on the nrf52840 PDK using PPK, in sleep mode(sd_power_system_off) i get average 40 micro amp which suppose to be 0,6! while in advertising mode the

RE: Current measurements on nrf52840 pdk with PPK

Thanks guys, i appreciate all your help.

RE: Current measurements on nrf52840 pdk with PPK

Yes you can apply a jumper on p22 and p23 or solder SB40 and SB41, whatever is easiest.

RE: Current measurements on nrf52840 pdk with PPK

Well my problem was in system OFF mode. In system OFF mode logging will not have an impact on current consumption.

I tried with Bjørn's hardware now, and I also got 40µA. The reason for this is that SB41 is not cut, and the chip is powered through the high voltage pins, which in combination with the PPK gives wierd results.

Try to cut SB41 (in addition to SB40) and see if that helps. I can not find this documented in either the PKK or PDK user guide, which is not good, so we're sorry for wasting your time.

RE: Current measurements on nrf52840 pdk with PPK

Yes, NRF_LOG_ENABLED is 0, but do you think that logging will be active in sleep mode? did you tested my hex file? what is the current avrage with PKK and multimeter in sleep mode?

RE: Current measurements on nrf52840 pdk with PPK

OK, I'm not able to reproduce it here, but I will try with Bjørn's hardware and get to the bottom of this. Just so we know if there's an issue with the PPK or the DK.

Also run just this code:

int main(void){
    NRF_POWER->SYSTEMOFF =1;
    while(true){__WFE();}
}

Then you have 3 outcomes:

The above code reduces current on both PPK and multimeter: There's an issue with the original code

The above code reduces current on only the multimeter, not the PPK: There's an issue with the PPK

The above code does not reduce current on multimeter. There's an issue with the PCA10056.
