Sorry, I don't know of any apps like that for windows 8.1. I do know about this one(Haven't tried it myself), but that requires Windows 10.

That's unfortunate. I just want to use nrfUART. Similar to how it works on Android without the serial port connection. Do you happen to know of any Windows apps that will interface with the NUS service using the BLE link?

Hi Jason!

I as you dont have any devices connected to your computer with USB, you will not be able to start scanning. You will need a nRF5 DK or a dongle connected to be able to scan for other devices.

Take a look at these two sections of the nRF Connect Bluetooth Low Energy User Guide:

Establishing serial port connection to a local device
Establishing Bluetooth low energy connections

I see. For some reason I thought the serial port access was through the J-Link. Anyway - why can't I start a scan? I just want to be able to use nfUART on the PC.

Hi Jason!
The fact that you have no serial ports available may be because you haven't connected a nRF5 DK or dongle to your computer with USB?
