I&amp;#39;ve modified the ble_app_uart example to run from my HW. &lt;p&gt;I as you dont have any devices connected to your computer with USB, you will not be able to start scanning. You will need a nRF5 DK or a dongle connected to be able to scan for other devices.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Take a look at these two sections of the &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.tools/dita/tools/nRF_Connect/nRF_Connect_intro.html"&gt;nRF Connect Bluetooth Low Energy User Guide&lt;/a&gt;:&lt;/p&gt;
