For a home automation project I'm considering using a Freescale development board FRDM-K64F with an RF module nRF24L01+ Nordic 2.4GHz Radio for communication as edge-end device. However this edge-end device needs to communicate with a gateway device

RE: 2.4GHz (nRF24L01)

Hi GuyD,

Yes there are nrf24L01 and nrf24L01+ usb devices available on EBAY, etc. They appear as a serial device mapped to a COM port and are controlled using a simple AT command set, e.g. AT+SET=40270102030405. Don't know how good they are as I have never used one.
