Technically with Flash you can't erase individual bytes, you can only erase a "page".

The page size is defined by chip design, and is often 1k or 2k or 4k... etc

Example is good.. But how do we do erase certain number of bytes starting at a certain address ? There is only page erase there .

Another option is to use the Flash Data Storage (FDS) library in the SDK. This thread contains an example showing how to use FDS (the thread contains two versions of the example, one for SDK 11 and one for SDK 12.2).

You an only write to flash a limited number of times, before you wear it out (check the spec for the number of times) (Well the number of page erases is the real limiting factor)

When you will be using flashwrite example (examples\peripheral\flashwrite), please keep in mind it does not check how many times flash write operation has been performed.

In nrf52 documentation in NVMC section you have an information about maximum block write cycles between page errase (n_WRITE).

Sounds like you are talking about external flash on TWI
