For future reference in case someone else bumps into this, the issue was a manufacturing fault that put a 10K resistor from DEC4 (pin 46) to GND rather than the expected 1.0uF capacitor.

No, I still do not have it working. I have filed a case with Nordic (Case ID 40323).

I have changed crystals as well as run the load capacitors through a range of values. The crystal is oscillating happily while the nrf52 refuses to acknowledge the fact.

It would be nice to know what the criterion that the nrf52 will signal on is? Is it VCO lock? Is it average current on XC1? Something else?

Hi,

Which value are you using for your load capacitor? The specified crystal should be used with a 15pF capacitor. If this is not what you are using please try changing it and performing your measurements again.

Ummm, NX2520SA-32.000000MHZ IS the exact part number.

What is the exact part number for the crystal you are using? Could you provide a link to a data sheet?
