Both GCC and Segger Embedded Studio IDE are free to use. We have Segger Embedded Studio projects in the latest SDK version. If you have any problems with your evaluation, please create a new question here on devzone so we can help you. I would recommend using Segger Embedded Studio instead of eclipse.

It appears all dev tools for Nordic chips are pay only, supporting eclipse would deny their third party vendors $$$ in the 1000's range.

There are other chip options, our evaluation is not going well, the dev tools for Nordic chips are expensive and poor

Hi,

With the release of SDK 14.1, we have added support for Segger Embedded Studio (SES) IDE. You can use Segger Embedded Studio for commercial and non-commercial purpose with Nordic Semiconductor devices free of charge without any code limit. See this article for more information. I would therefore recommend using SES instead of Eclipse. We do have a SES youtube tutorial series you can take a look at here.
