Hi Matt,

is there any update with this Bluetooth Long Range demo from Nordic? I also want to do some test with nRF52840 and it's better when I can show the distance between two Dev kits.

Interestingly there is an upcoming BLE webinar on "true x-y positioning" in an indoor environment using "angle of arrival and received signal strength" (pages.bluetooth.com/webinar-fathom.html). You may want to check out that webinar to see if there is something you can make good use of for your project.

Ha, duh, my bad. I have the GPS units but I was thinking of those more for a location tool, not using those to calculate distance. Complete oversight. Thanks for pointing me back in the right direction!

Well, you need to get the GPS modules from Sparkfun if you really want to reproduce this long range demo :) The distance calculation is no magic: the transmitter sends its own gps location to the receiver, and the receiver can calculate the distance based on its own gps data and the gps data from the transmitter.
