Sure they are, that's why it's called standard and why you have both stack and final HW+FW certified.

Thank you for your response. What about the compatibility of BLE 4 device family with NRF52? Are they still connectable to each other while NRF52 is playing the peripheral role.

The nRF51822 supports multiple links as a central (up to 8), but only one link as a peripheral. In other words you can only be connected to one central at the time.

The nRF52 SoftDevices are much more flexible in this regard, and support up to 20 links in either the central or peripheral role.
