&lt;p&gt;The nRF51822 supports multiple links as a central (up to 8), but only one link as a peripheral. In other words you can only be connected to one central at the time.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The nRF52 SoftDevices are much more flexible in this regard, and support up to 20 links in either the central or peripheral role.&lt;/p&gt;
